Lavender — the aromatherapy-supplement bridge
Lavender has been associated with relaxation across most of recorded human history. The active compounds — linalool and linalyl acetate — support the parasympathetic nervous system, the “rest-and-digest” side of your wiring. Phew uses 20 mg of lavender extract per strip, which is how you get the relaxant compounds without needing the aroma.
How lavender works. Linalool, the main active in lavender, modulates the same GABA system valerian does, plus has documented effects on serotonin receptors. Aromatherapy lavender is one delivery route; sublingual extract is another, and arguably more reliable because the dose is measurable.
The research base. Lavender oil capsules have been studied for mild anxiety and pre-sleep tension, with several randomized trials showing modest but consistent effects. Most studies use silexan (a specific lavender oil preparation); our extract is similar in active-compound profile but not identical.
How much we use. 20 mg of lavender extract per strip. The dose is calibrated to support the wind-down stack, not to be a standalone anxiolytic. People sensitive to fragrance sometimes find lavender supplements feel mildly soothing on the tongue alone.
Per-batch transparency. We’re working with Supliful to disclose the supplier and extraction method per batch. The end state is a tin-bottom lot number that resolves to a per-batch COA. Until then, email hello@tryphew.com if you want the source on a specific tin.
